April was born and raised in New Mexico and Washington, D.C. She has been writing since age eight and speaking in front of audiences since she was ten. Her newest project, Roses are Red, shares personal testimonies that promote mental wellness and coping skills to support healing. Roses are Red is an empowering and uplifting guide that supports mental health when dealing with things beyond our control. Readers are invited into a space of healing, honesty, and transparent self-reflection.

April has delivered compelling poetry and motivational speaking engagements at churches, women’s transitional housing, funerals, family events, weddings, baby showers, The Willard Hotel, Fox 5 News, and has been featured in The Gazette and The Baltimore Afro-American, art galleries, and more.

April has been in the medical field for 28 years. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, making potholders, and loves music. She received her associate degree in General Studies, a degree in Criminal Justice with a Concentration in Human Services, and a master’s degree in Mental Health and Wellness with an emphasis on Grief and Bereavement. April has a compassionate heart for those who are grieving. She prepares individualized packages to support those experiencing loss, offers a listening ear, and shares words of solace.
